Hello Young Professionals (YP)!
The YP Committee met over this last quarter to continue efforts on increasing YP participation on webinars and MemberLink, CEIR report usage, and engagement at the chapter level. On the student level, IAEE held the inaugural International Student Week to much success with participants learning about industry career opportunities, advocacy efforts and skill-building.
With the inclusion of YP representatives from all chapters on the Grassroots subcommittee, we are able to share best practices for engaging the local IAEE YPs. From Donuts and Dish in the Dallas/Fort Worth chapter to health and wellness activities in the New England chapter, I have enjoyed the ideas shared by the chapter representatives, sparking ideas amongst the other chapters.
Tomorrow, 2 June, the YP Committee will be holding our YP nationwide meet up at 10:00 AM ET / 9:00 AM CT. Join us for a virtual coffee and conversation with young professionals across all chapters. Registration closes today, 1 June at 11:59 PM CT.
Tomorrow also marks the ECA Legislative Action Day. Please share on social media or write to your legislative representative on your support for the Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act (HCJRA). It's time to bring our industry back to business.
I wish you all a safe and happy summer, and I look forward to seeing you at a future Young Professional event.
Sincerely,

Hello Young Professionals!
I hope everyone has had a wonderful start to 2021. As we reflect over this past year, we have seen a tremendous amount of change in our industry and around the globe. Though change can be daunting and difficult, I have found that leaning on my community of peers has been helpful and supportive in both work and personal responsibilities.
The Young Professional (YP) Committee recognizes the need, especially at this time, to discover new ways to support the IAEE YP membership, and I am excited to share some of the efforts underway for 2021.
From a digital perspective, we continue to engage and support our YP members by increasing the utilization of MemberLink, IAEE's member connection hub. I look forward to our community following along and participating in the conversations. Your feedback may be the solution someone else is looking for!
In addition to the MemberLink efforts, we are working to increase the awareness of the CEIR research and tools available and how they can be beneficial to YPs - especially those of us (myself included) still wrapping our heads around virtual and hybrid events.
At the chapter level, the committee has invited YP delegates from their respective chapters to join bi-monthly sub-committee calls to better align efforts in supporting and engaging young professionals (and students) locally.
The YP Committee has had a successful start to the year, and we hope to continue that success and participation at our first nationwide meet up on 11 March. This is a fully virtual meet up that is open to all IAEE YP members. Hope to virtually see you there.
Sincerely,
Shannon Binger, CEM

Hello Young Professionals!
I would like to begin my message with a thank you to the YP Committee for their participation over the past year. The committee was quick to adapt our monthly meetings and adjust our goals to match the environment of the industry. The committee members also graciously served as resources for members who looked for advice on how to navigate the effects of the pandemic.
In addition to supporting one another at the committee level, I am proud to share that the committee also worked to support the following accomplishments:
I am also proud to share that we had excellent YP participation at the virtual Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition 2020. The dedicated BUZZ sessions and education track gave young professional attendees plenty of opportunities for professional development and networking. Thank you GES for sponsoring the young professionals education track and your continuing support of IAEE YP initiatives. If you missed participating, there is still time! The Expo! Expo! educational content housed on the Swapcard platform will be accessible until the end of January, and I encourage you to take some time to explore all of the offerings.
Looking forward to 2021, I am proud to serve another year as your YP Committee Chairperson. I hope we can continue to expand the resources and exchange in support to the entire young professional membership. There are so many great pathways IAEE offers to extend the reach of the committee’s efforts, and I look forward to increasing the reach to include more of the community over the next year.
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!
Sincerely,

Hello Young Professionals!
I hope you have had a wonderful summer and are ready to dive in to fall activities. I am proud to share that, over the last few months, the Young Professional (YP) Committee has been busy working towards the goals set forth at the start of the year. Although we are in unprecedented times, this group of committed YPs continues to push through efforts to enhance and evolve the YP Community of IAEE. Highlights of the accomplishments include:
If you are interested in staying connected with the ongoing activities of IAEE's Young Professionals, visit the YP Memberlink to join the community exchanges. Recent conversations touched on social distancing at future events, working remotely with kids, and best practices to de-stress – all of which you may find to be extremely relevant in 2020. You can also stay connected by visiting the IAEE Young Professionals page.
Lastly, do you know an outstanding YP who has worked towards advancing the young professionals in our industry? Submit a nomination for the IAEE Young Professional of the Year Award. The deadline for all IAEE Award nominations is 15 October!

Hello Young Professionals!
When I last wrote, the world and our industry were in a very different place. We have shared a collective uncertainty as we watched our operations come to a halt in the wake of a global pandemic. We are now watching as the United States navigate the ideological division on racial inequalities and the justice system. Both events are catastrophic as well as traumatic, and I want you to know that I am here for you, and the IAEE Community is here for you. The Young Professional group was established as a safe place for our early career members to exchange ideas, comments and concerns about industry on goings. It continues as a safe place to discuss how this subset of professionals are affected by the landscape in our country currently.
IAEE has supported the YP community by providing relevant COVID-19 resources, advocating to policymakers on the economic impact of the U.S. B2B exhibitions industry on Exhibitions Day and denouncing racial injustice.
In addition to what I have highlighted above, I encourage you to continue to access our dedicated YP resources including YP Memberlink, IAEE YP Facebook Page and the IAEE Young Professional webpage.
As we begin to rebuild, I hope you will continue to engage with the IAEE Young Professional Community. Working as a united front, we will undoubtedly move forward through these uncertain times, together.

Hello Young Professionals!
I am thrilled to be your 2020 Committee Chairperson, and I am looking forward to working with the YP community to expand upon our education, networking opportunities and communication this year.
Did you know that the Call for Presentations for Expo! Expo! is now live?! I encourage all young professionals to submit an education session proposal for presentation at the 2020 Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting and Exhibition from 8-10 December in Louisville, KY. Speaking at the conference is a great way to increase your visibility in the industry as well as a great justification to receive funding/approval to attend! The deadline to submit is 27 March. Additionally, be sure to check out the IAEE schedule of webinars found here. IAEE offers a ton of great (and free!) education for young professionals as well as general industry topics.
IAEE offers many resources to connect with other young professionals all year long. Please be sure to join the conversations on the dedicated YP Community on MemberLink, follow the IAEE YP Facebook page and check out the IAEE YP microsite.
Lastly, I encourage you to become involved with your local chapter. The chapter events and meetings offer opportunities for you to engage with other members and young professionals in your area. Most chapters offer educational sessions and meet ups throughout the year and are always thrilled to have new members attend.
I hope you have found some useful tips with this information, and I look forward to working alongside you this year building on our young professional community within IAEE.
Thank you!
Sincerely,

Kareem Salvant, Logistics and Facilities Manager at the Javits Center, stepped in as Chapter Chairman at the beginning of 2020, along with a new Board & Committee Chairs.
Here’s Kareem's message to the chapter:
As the events industry continues to evolve and grow on a global scale, I am honored to lead the New York area chapter of the International Association of Events and Exhibitions.
This is a critical moment for IAEE and all of our chapter members as we seek to develop new business, adapt to industry trends and establish a clear path for future growth.
I would like to thank former Chairman Mike Pietraszek for his leadership and guidance over the past two years, and I am eager to build upon his success in the coming years.
As Chairman, one of my focal points will be enhancing the educational opportunities offered to our members throughout the year. We are exploring the best ways to provide certification classes to members while developing a series of panel discussions that demonstrate the impact and importance of our industry. We also will be working closely with other chapter organizations to create mutually beneficial relationships that help grow our respective networks.
This year, we have seven newly appointed board positions, including some new officers who will play an integral role in the future of this chapter. I am thrilled to announce Shannon Binger as our Chapter Vice-Chair and Peri Halprin as our Chapter Administrator, Tom Malek as Secretary, along with Jerry Cito who will continue to serve as our Treasurer.
It is an exciting time for NYIAEE, and I am eager to engage with current and new members while encouraging feedback on how we can serve you better. Together, we can continue to strengthen our industry, develop new business, and ensure our success for generations to come.
Organized in 1928 as the National Association of Exposition Managers to represent the interests of tradeshow and exposition managers, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events™ is today the leading association for the global exhibition industry.
